DJ Pretzel Interview Up At GameSetWatch

Posted on Thursday 6 July 2006

So, yeah, I’ve been pretty damn busy in the past 24 hours since the site came out of its hiatus - I’ve also managed to cobble together this little chat with OCRemix head honcho DJ Pretzel, a.k.a. David Lloyd. He had some pretty cool things to say about the site, and the running of it, and also managed to get through an interview about videogame music without saying “Koji Kondo” or “Hip Tanaka”, which is pretty impressive in itself. I’ve got a lot of time for OCRemix - they’re a noble bunch, and I love their mission statement: “To prove that this music is not disposable or merely background, but is as intricate, innovative, and lasting as any other form”. I’m not big on the endless techno ReMixes of Chrono Trigger themes, but I do love the more inventive, live instrument work by people like European jazz quartet Neskvartetten and the brilliant, though sadly defunct, One-Up Mushrooms. As always, head over to GameSetWatch for the full story.
