The New Pokémon Game Is Going To Rule

Posted on Monday 7 August 2006

A little disclaimer here - I’ve always really liked Pokémon. I used to get up at 6am, just so I could sit down and watch the TV show before school.

This was in my final year of high school.

So, yeah, I liked it. I never had the Game Boy games, though, since I was a GameGear owner, though I did end up with Pokémon Stadium for the Nintendo 64 at some point, for some reason that I’m not entirely sure of. Beyond that, I’ve not had a lot of contact with it - I’m a bit behind in the whole thing, as evidenced when my younger brother showed me his Pokémon cards last week. I don’t actually know anything past the first 150, apparently.

Nonetheless, I get the feeling that the next Pokémon game, Diamond and Pearl, are going to be something to look forward to. There’s all the usual RPG elements, but the games will also be employing the DS’s to its fullest, using touch screen, the improved graphics capabilites, and, most excitingly, the Wi-Fi network.

As with the previous RPG titles, you’re presented with three Pokémon to chose from. The big news is, they’ve just been announced, and offer more clues to the fact that this game is going to rule!

This is Naetle, a Grass type.

This is Pochama, a Water type.

Finally, this is Hikozaru, the reason this is going to be the best Pokémon game. Are you seeing this? It’s a flaming monkey. It’s like they’ve read my mind to find out the most awesome thing ever, and then put it in the game. I don’t want to sound repetitive, but: flaming monkey. Wow.

I am so getting this game.
