I talked a little while back about Spencer Putt’s awesome Zelda game for the TI-83+ graphical calculator, and I managed to squeeze a quick little email interview out of him in the past week or so. Obviously, one of the first questions I asked him was: how the hell do you make a Zelda game for the graphical calculator? Turns out, unlike what has been suggested by a number of forum members, it runs like a motherfucker.
But I think my favourite part was asking him how he actually writes the games in general:
It isn’t hard! I write in symbol machine code, known as z80 assembly language.
I am so in awe of people who understand that kind of thing without any trouble.
