Crytek Says No To Console Crysis

Posted on Thursday 31 August 2006

TeamXbox brings work that Bernd Diemer, senior game designer for German developer Crytek had a few words to say about their next title, Crysis, at Leipzig GC. Specifically, a few words on how “next generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 do not offer the sufficient power” to run the game, which has been programmed with DirectX 10 in mind.

Man, how’s that for a kick in the teeth? “Hey Sony, we know your supposedly all-conquering super console isn’t out for another few months, but it’s already too weak for our game”. Nice one, Crytek. While the company has been hiring programmers for possible spin-off titles for PS3, that’s still got to smart.

Fair bet my legendarily crippled PC is not going to be up to the task of running it. Or Windows Vista, for that matter. Dave Perry told me it was time to upgrade, and he might be right.
